On Wednesday, July 29 the Municipality of Kavala, with the support of its regional BSBEEP Partner, the Democritus University of Thrace, held a training event targeting Municipal employees involved in issues related to energy efficiency. Over 50 participants from all over the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace defied the summer heat to hear about actions, tools and solutions that can help them raise their capacity to deal with energy management issues. The Mayor of Kavala, Dimitra Tsanaka, the Deputy Mayor of Planning and Development, Dimosthenis Toulkidis and the Deputy Mayor of Technical Works, Filippos Filippidis, opened the event and pointed out the value of territorial cooperation in the deployment of operational activities and strategic initiatives of the Municipality.The Coordinator of the DUTH team, Prof.Georgios Gaidajis, highlighted the links between the Sustainable Energy Action Plan elaborated for the Municipality of Kavala and the activities implemented in BSBEEP. The Kavala training event was also a meeting point for territorial cooperation projects in the field of energy efficiency. Representatives of PEEBPE-Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Protection of the Environment (http://peebpe.eu/), a project co-financed by the CBC Program Greece-FYROM were there to present their experience and underline the need to push for expanding and deepening cooperation between local authorities and knowledge carriers in order to reinforce regional development.The training event continued with more technical presentations, by the other Members of the BSBEEP team and closed with a networking lunch.Last but not least, it was widely covered by the local media while all presentations and other material were published on the website section dedicated to BSBEEP of the Municipality of Kavala( http://www.kavala.gov.gr/web/guest/BSBEEP).
